According to stories, the name Binubuhan originated from the native word “bubu” which means “to pour”.

They remembered that whenever fiestas or other special occasions were held in the area, a Catholic priest would come and perform rites of baptism in which the pouring of water on the babies or the faithful’s foreheads was called “bubu”. They also told that water from the nearby clear, running river was used to perform the “bubu” or baptism.
