Sometime in the middle of the 19th century there was massive immigration to Negros of people coming from Panay brought about by the development of the sugar industry.
Many of these laborers, also called “sacadas”, stayed after the milling season to clear portions of the forest and to acquire parcels of land.
Fearful that the land which they already called their own would be grabbed by other immigrants, they planted land markers around their acquired areas using bamboo or wooden posts which were called “ta-loc”. It is said that from this word came the name of Barangay Taloc.
