How the Barangay got its name was a charming story of raindrops not flowing straight but meandering around the curves and loops of brooks around the barangay in directions away from its destination, the sea.

In the dialect, the old ones said, “balingag” (crooked mind). That they said was the origin of the name of Barangay Balingasag.
