During the Spanish time, Barangay Busay was an unnamed place full of shrubs, cogon bushes, tigba-as and plants of less importance.
A stranger arrived at the place and asked what the name of the place was. Since there was no formal name and upon glancing at the falls at the river, a native ventured to say, “It can be called Busay (waterfalls).”
However, the erosion of the river banks has caused the drying and eventual disappearance of the falls.
Where there used to be abundant flowing of water from the falls, there now is only a “dagasanan” or sandy shore.
